Guernsey, part of the Channel Islands, is a British Crown Dependency located in the Gulf of St Malo, 120km to the south of Britain and about 50km west of Northern France.
English speaking, with a centuries-old tradition of political stability and good governance, Guernsey is in the same time zone as London and frequent air links to London and other United Kingdom airports permit easy access for business travellers.
The Guernsey finance industry has thrived for over 50 years due to its in-depth expertise, its high regulatory standards, a compliant and transparent tax regime, innovation and its relationship with the UK.
The island’s finance industry focuses on four key areas:
Guernsey has five decades of experience in providing private wealth management services as well as offering the unique Guernsey Foundation. Registering companies in the island is fast and efficient and Guernsey has established the world’s first image rights register.
The day-to-day responsibility for the regulation of the finance sector rests with the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, which was established in 1987. The Commission’s primary objective is to regulate and supervise financial services in Guernsey, with integrity and professional excellence, and in doing so helps to uphold the international reputation of Guernsey as a finance centre.
Guernsey was named International Financial Services Centre of the Year at the Wealth Adviser Awards 2014.
